Hotel Hopping Atlanta wasn’t a lifelong dream. It wasn’t something I had planned for years. It started suddenly—born from personal experience, faith, and the realization that so many others were facing the same struggle.
Since the beginning of our marriage in April 2009, my family and I have found ourselves in and out of hotels and extended-stay accommodations. We’ve lived in InTown Suites in Jonesboro and Morrow, InCity Suites in Hapeville, stayed with friends and family, and had periods where we managed on our own.
Each time, I saw the same faces. Families just like mine. Parents working tirelessly to provide, children trying to find stability in a temporary home, individuals doing their best to survive. It became clear—we weren’t alone.
One day, while living with friends and searching for our own home again, the Lord put something on my heart: Pay for a room for someone staying where you and your family once lived.
With just $120 between my husband and me, I reached out to a few friends. That day, we raised $250 and paid for a week’s stay for a man who had lost his job due to the COVID crisis.
From there, the mission grew.
* April 22-29, 2020 – We raised $1,274 and covered eight rooms in Clayton County, GA.
* To date, we’ve raised $3,665 and provided 15 rooms to families and individuals in need.
* We’ve also covered utility bills and hosted giveaways during the pandemic to help struggling households.
But even though the pandemic is behind us, the need remains.
